யாதும் ஊரே!

        "யாதும் ஊரே, யாவரும் கேளிர்!" (To us all towns are one, all men our kin!), these are the words from one of the earliest literary works in the Tamil (தமிழ்)! These were sculpted down at a time when the early Tamil kings were in the search of new lands for conquests! They were seafarers with unending quench for adventure which led them as far as Indonesia (Srivijaya) and Guangzhou (China) at later times! 

        These articles are my experiences than just travelling; I go bit further and live the moment, savor it.

        I come from the southernmost part of the Indian Subcontinent (தென்னாடு) where the Tamil language and the culture has been striving for many millennia, unaltered.The people, Lifestyle and  most definitely the food is something you have to yearn for! The small strip of land called Kanniyakumari blessed with rains 6-8  months a year; hills to the north and surrounded by seas on the other three sides with a lush green hilly terrain. it just doesn't stop there! 
      
        I am fascinated by architecture, language, modern art and history; so expect this blog to take turns, give you vivid facts, quotes and historical vignettes. Colonial Era Churches, Ancient Temples, Palaces and Monuments may find its own page in between!
